Travel to Russia

As always you guys are really great! I really appreciate your help and everything you've done for me!

Michael

russia1.jpgThe history of the Russian Federation is overwhelming. It is apparent on every corner of the country's staggeringly awesome cities, such as Moscow and St Petersburg, with their architectural marvels. But it also dwells in huge and remote expanses such as Siberia, filled with ancient forests and the world's deepest lake. Everything exists here on a mammoth level.

The Russian Federation covers almost twice the area of the USA, and reaches from Moscow in the west over the Urals and the vast Siberian plains to the Sea of Okhotsk in the east. The border between European Russia and Siberia (Asia) is formed by the Ural Mountains, the Ural River and the Manych Depression. European Russia extends from the North Polar Sea across the Central Russian Uplands to the Black Sea, the Northern Caucasus and the Caspian Sea. Siberia stretches from the West Siberian Plain across the Central Siberian Plateau between Yenisey and Lena, including the Sayan, Yablonovy and Stanovoy ranges in the south to the East Siberian mountains between Lena and the Pacific coast, including the Chukotskiy and Kamchatka peninsulas.

The Russian Federation is divided into 11 time zones. Summer time is + 1 from last Sunday in March torussia4.jpg Saturday before last Sunday in October.

Capital- Moscow. Population: 8.3 million (2005).

Getting to Russia:

The national airline is Aeroflot – Russian International Airlines (SU). Moscow has connection with most major European cities and America.

Visa requirements:

russia2.jpgCurrently all foreigners must apply for a letter of invitation (excluding most citizens of the CIS). Please, contact us for a Russian visa invitation. The second step requires that you complete the appropriate Russia visa application form and submit it with your invitation, passport-size photo, and the original copy of your passport to the nearest Russian consulate. To obtain the application form, you need to visit the Russian embassy or consulate's website. If there is no Russian consulate in your resident country, look for the consulate in a larger neighboring country.Once you find the Russian embassy or consulate's website, follow the links to the Consular Section (Visas, Passports) where there will be a printable version of the application form.Print, complete and sign the application form.Submit the application form along with your invitation, a passport-size photo, and passport. Remember that requirements sometimes change, so always confirm these requirements with the instructions found on the consulate's web-site. In Russia, you have 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) to register your visa.  If you are staying in a hotel, they will register your visa for a small fee.  If you are staying in an apartment or with friends, you should register your visa with the agency (or partner agency) with whom you obtained your invitation. If your final destination is in a different city and you are not staying at a hotel, you will need to register your visa with an independent agency or at a local OVIR office. To register your visa you will need to present your passport and travel voucher (which you receive with your invitation).
